Extracting metadata with the Vlocity Build tool

The Vlocity Build tool is the newer, industry-standard tool that addresses the shortcomings of the built-in export and import tool. Just like the SFDX CLI tool, it integrates with a variety of products and tools, and it is DevOps friendly. (If you need help with SFDX, please search for Salesforce CLI Command Reference.)

Metadata support differs between OmniStudio Standard and OmniStudio for Vlocity. While OmniStudio for Vlocity offers some of the original Vlocity features that are not available in OmniStudio Standard, the latter uses standard Salesforce objects and, therefore, is faster.

If you are running OmniStudio Standard, you can enable Metadata API support by going to Setup > OmniStudio Settings. Once enabled, you will be able to retrieve and deploy OmniStudio standard objects (FlexCards, OmniScripts, DataRaptors, and Integration Procedures) using the SFDX CLI and the Force.com Migration Tool.
