The Navigation pane
The Navigation Pane is not a new feature in Word. It has been around in one form or another since the Office 2007 version, where it was formerly called the Document Map. Turning on the Navigation pane
To turn on the Navigation pane, perform these steps:
- For newer (or currently supported) versions of Word, open the document you are planning to review, edit, or continue writing in.
- Click on the View tab.
- In the Show group, click on the Navigation Pane checkbox to open the Navigation pane.
The Navigation pane should open and automatically dock to the left-hand side of your screen.
