Summary

In this chapter, you combined different visual variables (size, shape, or hue) and feature types (point, line, and area) to represent the geographic object on the map. In addition to this, you explored different ways to label features in the data frame and map layout. You also learned how to add a special character to a graphic label text using the Character Map Windows collection.

In the second part of this chapter, you saw how the symbolization method, classification scheme, and number of classes are influenced in the message of your thematic map.

In the next chapter, you will learn how to create and edit feature shapes and attributes using the ArcMap editing tools.
