Introduction
The Intel Galileo board can be used to control a wide range of devices, and we will get an overview of these functionalities in this chapter.
We are first going to see how to control simple devices such as a relay and a DC motor. This will allow you to control related devices such as lamps, that can easily be connected to a relay for example. Then, we will see how to add more complex devices to the Galileo board, such as an XBee module that can, for example, be used for home automation applications. We will also see how to couple an input device (a knob) with an output device (a servomotor). Finally, we will see how to use the onboard SD card slot on the Galileo board to write measured data onto an SD card.
