Validation is a process of cross checking, which is carried out to indicate that the output generated by an activity is accurate and acceptable. Validation is done for various activities carried out in a task or a process. For example, in report development, validation indicates that the data used for the reporting is taken from authenticated sources, the logic applied in reports are generating correct outputs and reports are created as per the requirements given. Similarly, in software development, validation indicates whether the software meets the basic requirements and functionalities. It also checks if the software produces the desired output or not.
