Summary
This chapter was the meat of the installation process for SharePoint. Although there is more to come, this chapter laid the foundation for the farm. If we didn't cover these areas, we would not have a base installation to move forward with and, as pertaining to the server resources, have a complete server infrastructure that supports a SharePoint and SQL Server environment.
Be mindful of your settings when you're configuring the performance of SQL Server, especially the MAXDOP settings. If they are changed, the SharePoint environment will not run correctly and you will see performance hits on your SQL servers. This is because SharePoint is built for MAXDOP to be set to 1. Also, building redundancy into your SQL Server platform is also key to supporting the environment.
