Test planning guidelines and recommendations


Testing is a big topic, and each testing type requires special focus to achieve the right objective of the test cycle. To achieve success and get the desired result during the phase, it's very critical to plan. No matter how good the tools or method you use are, if there is no planning, you will not be able to achieve and measure objectives. In this section, we will cover various test planning guidelines and recommendations during the testing cycle.

Test planning and scenarios

To conduct proper testing, it is important to do proper planning before the test cycle starts. The following are some guidelines to keep in mind when planning for the phase:

  • During the planning phase, create a test plan to define the scope, resources, and tools to be used for the testing, and to identify how bugs will be tracked. Establish the criteria for defining S1/S2, P1/P2 bugs, depending on the business criticality (severity and priorities).
