Saving Gaia configuration, backups, snapshots, and migration tools
There are four different backup methods for Check Point appliances, each serving a different purpose. These are listed as follows:
- Gaia OS-level configuration backup (saving the configuration)
- System backup
- Snapshots
- Server migration tools
We will discuss each of these in detail in the following sections.
Gaia OS-level configuration backup
The Gaia OS-level configuration backup essentially produces the same content as a show configuration
command output. It contains all Gaia configuration parameters necessary for the recovery on, or migration to, a new appliance with identical network interfaces and modules. If used to migrate to the new appliance with different interfaces or modules, it can be easily edited prior to loading it in the destination appliance.
