What components make up an integration?
Early in the process of determining the requirements, one of the most (if not the most) important ones is knowing which systems will be retired and which will be continued. If we go back to our discussion in a previous chapter on the company’s technology roadmap, we need to use that to guide us when gathering the requirements. If we decide that there are some systems that we just can’t remove, then there is our way of knowing whether we need integration.
Now, just because we have many different systems doesn’t mean that we will be replacing all of them, or having to share data between them. It’s quite possible that we will have a system that is there for a specific task that doesn’t need any data to be added to F&SCM or doesn’t record information past instant reporting.
