Optimizing asset utilization
Asset management has traditionally been an area where organizations invest substantial manual effort due to the lack of technology and the complexity of coordinating the various functions of the organization involved in the management of the asset life cycle. The problem is complex enough that for some organizations, certain asset types, including crucial ones such as end user computing devices, are completely neglected.
Low asset utilization and lost assets can cause tangible and serious financial impacts on an organization. The optimization of asset utilization includes increasing asset reuse, increasing the overall utilization of an asset’s value, identifying lost assets, and improving the purchasing or leasing strategies of assets so that they can be procured as cheaply as possible to maximize the return on investment for these assets.
