In this chapter, we have built several virtual desktop machine images that will act as the parent images from which all the virtual desktop machines in the environment will be created from.
To build and configure the virtual desktop machines, we outlined and followed a process. This process is started by creating the virtual hardware containers, installing the guest operating systems, installing the Horizon-specific components, optimizing them to run as Horizon virtual desktop machines, and then finally preparing them by creating either templates or snapshots that are ready to be used to create virtual desktop machines that are going to be delivered to the end users.
In the next chapter, we are going to start looking at how to configure and manage desktop pools.
