We have already started along the path to lowering risk by using CodeCommit. Requiring users to authenticate allows us to keep our code private. A remote repository, managed by AWS, provides us with increased availability. Furthermore, the Git commit hash serves as an integrity checksum, ensuring that the data has not been corrupted or altered. Shared source code also improves your ability to deliver new features. So far, our product has mainly focused on infrastructure. As we continue to add new features (or resources, in Terraform speak), the amount of drudgery from typing the same commands over and over increases.
