Summary
In this chapter, we have shown how the decomposition of the functional requirements in a business- or IT-aligned information system works, and, in particular, how the use of norms and standards can have an impact on the design of entities, pushing some modifications and choices that might be a bit different to what was initially thought of.
I hopefully also convinced you of the power of the four-layer map approach, which generally helps us understand much better a complex system. Of course, our sample here is not complicated at all and I could have simply explained it by text. I trust that using the CIGREF approach has given you a better understanding of what we are going to implement and, in particular, of the challenges and important design decisions.
Now that all concepts have been explained and the functional specifications drawn, we are eventually ready to get our hands dirty in the technical bits and (finally) start building something. In the next chapter, we are...
