Configuring VM replication
No matter the VM workload, Hyper-V Replica can be utilized for enabling and managing replication between Hyper-V hosts, whether in the same location or physically located in another geographical location. These VM replication features can be enabled using Hyper-V Manager or System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM).
Let’s walk through setting up the primary Hyper-V Replica host with one preexisting VM, establishing the primary and one secondary replica server hierarchy, while using the certificate-based authentication (HTTPS) approach for replication communications between replica hosts:
- On the primary Hyper-V host within Hyper-V Manager, we select the VM to be replicated, as shown in Figure 12.5:
