Sprint planning lasts a maximum of eight hours for a one-month Sprint. That may sound like a long meeting for predictive project management, but imagine plotting out an entire month’s worth of work in one meeting. That would practically eliminate the need for other meetings. Hmmm... sounds like project management nirvana, right? For shorter Sprints, the planning event is usually shorter. Best practice dictates two hours per weeks planned. Four weeks = eight hours.
Sprint planning involves the questions of:
- What can be delivered in the increment?
- How will the work be achieved?
The team would select the work they are going to do during the Sprint and create a visual view of the work/user stories they intend on doing.
