Technical requirements
While we don’t have any special technical requirements for this chapter, we must understand how reporting works in Alteryx.
Alteryx manages its reporting functionalities based on the concept of snippets – that is, small pieces of content that, when combined horizontally or vertically, generate a report.

Both the header and the footer have specialized tools to configure them (the Report Header and Report Footer tool), while for the other snippets, we have tools that allow us to present data, such as the following:
- Maps
- Tables
- Text
- Charts
So, we can display data in any way we want.
Additionally, to make sense of all the pieces of content, Alteryx offers an additional tool to combine snippets, the Layout tool.
We can create very complete and complex reports using these tools, according to what they were created for.
