Configuring a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) on a vDS

The Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) allows you to group host physical adapters and the ports on a physical switch to form a bigger communication pipeline, thereby increasing availability and bandwidth. Such a pipeline is referred to as Ether Channel. The following diagram illustrates the LAG Configuration Workflow:

The physical network adapters and physical switch port groups are called LAG.

How to do it...

The following procedure will help you to configure LAG on a vDS:

Connect to vCenter Server using the HTML5 client and go to the Networking inventory view.

Select the vDS, navigate to Configure | Settings | LACP, and click + NEW:
