Creating your own sustainable IT strategy

This section will give you the tools to create a sustainable IT strategy. Just like in Chapter 10, Get Started Today, we will use a global process manufacturing model company with 10,000 employees. The examples you will see in this section have been compiled from companies with leading ESG ratings, best practices, wider research, and my experience. We will not focus on external environment input, such as sustainability trends, drivers for a corporate sustainability plan, or ESG considerations for IT since this was covered in detail in Chapter 2, Rise of Sustainable IT. Since the business environment is very specific to a particular company, I have decided to leave it out. Instead, we will focus on the internal environment and inputs from a hypothetical materiality assessment, enterprise sustainability goals and priorities, and the enterprise sustainability strategy.
