Loading a table file
We have now covered data extraction from a typical database via ODBC and OLE DB. QlikView is also able to load data from a table file, such as an Excel, CSV, TXT, and XML file, among others.
Let's go through an example of loading a CSV file so that we can describe the steps and dialog windows involved. We will load two additional tables in the CSV format with the purpose of demonstrating that no matter what the source is, at the end (that is, once added to the QlikView document and data model) all tables are equal. The new tables are in the Origin Markets.csv
and Destination Markets.csv
files, so make sure you have them in Data Files\CSVs
.
We will add this table to the same data model used in the previous section, so if you already closed the Airline Operations.qvw
document, please open it again. Go to the Edit Script window, activate the Airports tab, and position the cursor on the very last line. Next, click on the Table Files… button from the Data tab in the tool pane...
