Summary
This was our first plunge into the technology behavioral elements of ArchiMate® 3.1. This was also our first time looking at an enterprise-wide set of information. We've covered a lot in this chapter, but we hope the principles didn't get lost in the detail. Our attempt is to be as practical as possible by reusing information that already exists.
We imported a large amount of information that was contained in spreadsheets, but that's not where the bulk of our effort was spent. It was actually much more difficult to identify the services provided by the technical nodes. However, once the services were mapped to nodes, the redundant technologies were easy to identify. While we are closer to reducing technology costs, by no means are we done. Much more work is needed to understand why the redundancies exist and how they can be reduced.
