Understanding BranchCache

BranchCache is a technology that is used for optimising wide area network (WAN) bandwidth. BranchCache optimizes WAN bandwidth for remote users that access content on remote servers. It copies content from main office and caches the content at branch office. This way, clients work with the content locally, instead of remotely thus increasing the speed and reducing bandwith and costs.

Locally, content is stored on servers configured as caching host or as distributed cache, on client computers.

BranchCache modes

BranchCache has two methods of activity: circulated reserve mode and facilitated store mode.
