Creating Printed Marketing Collateral
Applications such as InDesign are adept at creating multi-page publications; however, this doesn’t mean that you can’t create single-page or front-and-back designs for print within Adobe Photoshop. In this chapter, you will create common print collateral such as flyers and posters that can be used internally or sent to a professional print provider for mass production.
We’ll start by defining new document characteristics that are appropriate for print, ensuring PPI and color modes have been considered. Then we’ll look at how to add bleed to a print file to ensure our projects are printed edge-to-edge on the destination paper stock using Canvas Size.
Guides will play an important role in setting up our print files, both to indicate the edges where our artwork will be trimmed and to identify a safe zone where type and other important content are kept clear from the paper edges when printed.
