Animating the layers

The amount of control we have over animating 3D models in Lumion is extended with the use of layers. Lumion has two effects that give us a basic control over the layers we use to organize the project, and these layers can be used to create some interesting animations. The way we are going to organize the layers depend on what we are trying to accomplish, and after this recipe, we will have a better idea of what is necessary. Let's see how we can use the Show layer and Hide layer effects.

Getting ready

Before we start this recipe, we need at least two elements. We need some 3D models placed in the scene and we need those 3D models in different layers.

How to do it…

To animate layers in Lumion, perform the following steps:

  1. Select the clip with the 3D models and use the New effect button to open the Movie effect library.
  2. Open the Objects tab, and you can start by adding the Hide layer effect first.
