Rendering printing marks
In this recipe we will create printing marks, those colorful and sometimes mysterious symbols you will have encountered numerous times on cardboard boxes or paper prints. We will use the Printing Marks extension, on a custom template format.
How to do it...
Carry out the following steps to render printing marks:
1. Open Document Properties (Shift + Ctrl + D) on the Page tab and change the Default units: to in. Under Page size set Custom size to use in as Units: and set Width: to 11 and Height: to 4.
2. Open the Printing Marks dialogue by going to Extensions> Render> Printing Marks....
3. On the Marks tab select all the options so they are all rendered.
4. On the Positioning tab, select Canvas under Set crop marks to option, select in as Unit, set Offset: to 0.2, and all Bleed Margin boxes to 0.2.
5. In the Current layer drop-down menu at the bottom left of the Inkscape window choose [Printing Marks] and unlock it by clicking on the padlock icon next to it.
