Configuring and authenticating PostGIS in QGIS

Although the focus of this chapter is PostGIS and the pgAdmin interface, as a macOS user, I rely on the integration of both to upload data to PostgreSQL. When initially downloading PostGIS, you are required to set a password. This is how you can link databases to QGIS and write spatial queries across platforms. Thankfully, if you do happen to forget or lose it, all is not lost.

In QGIS, head over to Settings and scroll down to Options. On the left-hand side vertical menu, go to Authentication and select Configurations, as shown in Figure 7.1. Here, click on Utilities, erase the authentication database, and recreate your configurations:

Now that PostGIS has been enabled across platforms, you can work with spatially enabled datasets.
