FinOps operational model
FinOps success is tied to the questions raised in the preceding section. We need to keep in mind that our stakeholders and sponsors will need those questions answered, and many more, before they agree on any serious commitment (in the form of budget, resources, and support) to the practice.
By thoroughly thinking about and answering these questions, we make sure to properly design and define the foundations of our practice, and essentially create a FinOps operating model that dictates how FinOps delivers value. This is the work that we are going to be covering throughout this chapter. Therefore, our FinOps operating model should at least include the following:
- Organization model
- Rollout and execution plan
- Functions, capabilities, and processes
- Roles and responsibilities
- Governance
