Using WPS in the right scenarios
According to the article, The Forrester Wave: Business Process Management For Document Processes, Q3 2007 by Craig Le Clair and Colin Teubner, there are four categories of business processes:
Integration Intensive: Typically used in cases to perform process automation with minimal interaction/intervention. Common adoption patterns include straight through processing and application integration.
People Intensive: Typically used in cases to perform process automation with mostly interactive or task-based interaction. Adoption requires the use of a rich user interface.
Decision Intensive: Typically used in cases to perform process automation, along with heavy use of a decision-based interaction. The complex decision logic is externalized from the business process and typically created and maintained in a business rules management system (such as IBM ILOG).
