Using new virtual hardware
The virtual machine hardware version is a set of hardware features. In most cases, it's the host's physical hardware used for virtual features, including PCI slots, EFI, CPUs, and so on.
The hardware version defines the following:
Memory limits for VMs
CPU limits for VMs
The storage and network adapters available
Guest OSes available for a VM
Other virtual hardware capabilities
