Media queries with Breakpoint


CSS media queries play an important role nowadays in web development. Media queries are used to create responsive designs. The Breakpoint Sass plugin makes writing media queries in Sass super simple. In this recipe, you can read how to install and use Breakpoint in your project.

Getting ready

First, you should install Ruby Sass on your system. You can read how to install it in the Installing Sass for command line usage recipe of Chapter 1, Getting Started with Sass. This recipe also tells you more about installing gems. Gems are Ruby packages. In this recipe, you will install the Breakpoint gem to use Breakpoint in your projects.

How to do it...

The following steps demonstrate you how to create responsive designs with ease by using the Breakpoint library:

  1. Run the following command in your console to install the Breakpoint gem and make Breakpoint available for Sass:

    sudo gem install breakpoint
