Installing SCDPM 2012 R2 using a remote SQL server or cluster
This recipe will cover the installation of DPM 2012 R2 using a remote SQL server or cluster.
Getting ready
- This recipe will cover and explain the configuration needed to complete a DPM 2012 R2 installation when you are using a backend, standalone server or a SQL cluster for achieving a high-availability scenario.
Note
It is not advisable to use SQL Server Always-On to host the DPMDB.
Before you can start your DPM sever installation you need to configure the SQL server to be able to host the DPMDB.
The only difference in the installation wizard when you install the DPM server software is the Prerequisites check step.
