Convert to Sheet Metal – Advanced Options
Now that we understand how to use the Convert to Sheet Metal tool let's look at the Reverse Thickness, Keep Body, Manual Rip Sketches, and Corner Defaults options in more detail.
Reverse Thickness option
This setting allows the direction of the newly-created sheets to be reversed:
- Continuing from the previous section, edit the Convert Solid feature again, so that we are back in the tool's Property Manager.
- We can now see two options under the Sheet Metal Parameters – Reverse thickness and Keep body (Figure 12.14).

- Put a check mark in the Reverse thickness box and watch the preview in the Graphics Area closely. You should see that the size of the previewed part increases slightly so that the new, added sheets will be outside of the original shape, rather than completely enclosed within it.
