The second interactive object covered in this chapter is the Text Entry Box. Just like the Button, the Text Entry Box is able to stop the playhead and wait for the user to interact with it. The difference lies in the nature of the interaction. Using a Text Entry Box, the student is expected to type.
You will now insert a Text Entry Box on slide 2 to capture the name of the student. Use the following steps to create a Text Entry Box:
- Use the Filmstrip to go to slide 2 of the Chapter05/takeTheTrain.cptx file.
- Use the Text | Text Entry Box icon on the toolbar to create a new Text Entry Box. Alternatively, you can use the command + shift + T (Mac) or the Ctrl + Shift + T (Windows) shortcut to perform the same action.
The Text Entry Box system adds up to five objects to the slide (it is OK if only some of them are displayed on the slide):
- The Text Entry Box itself
- A Success caption
- A Failure caption
- A Hint caption
