Starting your print stylesheet
Once you have linked your print stylesheet within your Joomla! template file, you can begin defining the style your visitors will see, should they attempt to print a page on your website.
Getting ready
As per our example, take the rhuk_milkyway template, which is installed by default within Joomla!. On screen, a typical page on your website may look like this:
Although the previous design looks nice on the screen, it does not provide ideal styling for those visitors wanting to print our website:
The background color and images set in the
<body>
tag would be very intensive on your ink cartridges to print, as would other areas of concentrated color.Quite a large portion of the screen is dedicated to navigation; this isn't necessary for print as the links won't work.
Advertisements can lose their effectiveness in print, especially as visitors cannot click on them. Some banners (especially animated banners) do not necessarily indicate the destination of the advert...
