Time for action – exporting reports
Let us see how we can export reports and charts in HTML format and open them in popular spreadsheet applications:
As the first step, create or open the report that you want to export.
From the menu select File | Export | Export Report. The Save HTML To File dialog will open.
Select the folder where you want to save this exported report. Give it a file name with the extension
.html
and click Export:OpenOffice.org Calc spreadsheet: Click on the A1 cell in the top-left hand corner of the spreadsheet. From the menu, select Insert | Link to External Data. Click on the ellipsis next to the URL of the external data source field and select the HTML file from the folder where you saved it. In the Available tables/ranges, select HTML_all and click on OK. The report will appear in the spreadsheet.
Microsoft Excel: Select File | Open and select the HTML file from the folder where you saved it. This is the same Transaction Report that you will see in GnuCash. It lists...
