Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “Anytime you want to change the color of a widget, you will need to understand how to use the Color
class.”
A block of code is set as follows:
ElevatedButton( onPressed: () { ScaffoldMessenger.of(context).showSnackBar( SnackBar( content: Text('The parmo is a famous food from Teesside.'), ), ); }, child: Text('Show SnackBar'), ),
When we wish to draw your attention to a particular part of a code block, the relevant lines or items are set in bold:
messages: { a3bdj2: { text: "Hello friends", deleted: true, … }, 4bajfasdf: {…} }
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
C:\src\flutter>flutter doctor
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “As we can see, the Next button has moved to the base of the screen as we hoped.”
