Using layers with parents
By default, any items you create on a parent page will be on the same layer as your page items, and, by default, the parent items will be positioned behind the local page items. This means local page items will effectively sit on top of your parent items and could hide them. In this recipe, we will look at how to organize your parent items onto a different layer to ensure they will stay on top of page items when you need them to.
Getting ready
To complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system and create a new document with 12 pages, as shown in the Creating a new document recipe in Chapter 1. You should also be comfortable with the previous recipes in this chapter: Adding content to a parent page including page numbers and Applying and removing parent pages.
