Time for action – capturing frames from CryENGINE
For this example, we will capture video from the Track View sequence created in the Creating a new Track View sequence and Animating a camera in Track View sections of this chapter.
There are two ways to capture frames from the engine. The first is by using a Capture track, which is unique to the director node. The second is by using typed console commands which are discussed at the end of this example.
To add the Capture track open the
my_first_sequence
sequence and right-click on the director node.On the director node there should be a track titled Capture. Set the key frame at the start of the sequence in the Capture track and adjust Duration that you'd like to capture in seconds, as shown in the next screenshot.
The next value to set is the Time Step value, which allows for a fixed frame rate capture. This will adjust the engine timing so that it gives the renderer enough time to capture the frames during the capture process.
