In Looker, managing who has access to your data and analytical tools is crucial for maintaining security and ensuring efficient collaboration. As of today, Looker (Google Cloud core) integrates with the Google Cloud IAM service to authenticate and authorize users (other options will be available later). Once users are added through Google Cloud IAM, the Users panel in Looker’s Admin page provides fine-grained control through roles and groups. You can assign roles, which define a set of permissions, to individual users or groups, allowing you to tailor access levels to specific needs.
