Decomposing your analysis and reports to define business entities
Starting to define your business entities is a key step in understanding the information in which the business intelligence and data warehouse solution is interested. In this step you will not only identify the key business information for a process, but also give each business entity and attribute a business definition.
Getting ready
To complete this step, you will need samples of the analysis and reports you identified in the previous steps. If these are new analysis or reports which do not currently exist, then endeavor to create a simple mock-up of each of the reports. A few simple definitions will also help you understand what you are looking for:
Entity — Entity is something that exists as an independent, self-contained, discrete unit. This can be living or non-living. For example, sales person, product, geography, orders, invoices, and so on.
