Creating model states in parts
Model states are incredibly versatile and effective ways of simplifying parts and assemblies and creating configurations of parts or assemblies. In this respect, they are an alternative to iParts and iAssemblies.
Model states allow for the creation of multiple representations of a part or assembly within a single file. This workflow makes it easier and more efficient to create and manage configurations within a design, and as all variations exist within one file, there is no risk of accidentally breaking the association between files. Model states are also an effective way of not only creating configurations of a product but also detailing assembly stages or manufacturing stages within a model.
Model states in parts can be used to create or represent the following:
- Manufacturing or production stages
- Manufacturing preparation stages
- Ranges or product families
- Simplification levels
- The range of movement of parts
