Modifying existing models
While there are a lot of models out there, available for download and ready to print, there are just as many that may take a little bit of adjusting before they are perfect. These may be simple changes, such as moving some geometry around or adding a base to a figure, or they may be something big, such as chopping a model in half. Regardless of the modification needed, once you have imported the file and you know that it is solid, you can use SketchUp to modify it as you would any other SketchUp model.
For our rhino head, we are going to make two specific modifications:
- First, we are going to make the tip of the horn less pointy. Since we are using this to hang clothing on, we do not need a sharp point at the end. While this is something that we could do post-print, we will tackle it in the model so that our hanger is ready to use as soon as it is printed.
