New Microsoft Certification validity period and renewal format

Technology is moving fast! Therefore, it is required to be at a pace similar to technology development. That means your skills must be current so that you do not have to play catch-up constantly. That is probably one of the main reasons Microsoft continually strives to provide new and improved certification formats to make it easier for candidates to keep their Microsoft Certifications active.

In the spring of 2021, Microsoft announced a new certification validity period and renewal format. At the time of writing this book, according to the new design, the validity of Microsoft exams, excluding the Fundamentals track, is valid for one year. Regarding the renewal of certification, this process is free of cost and is done through the Microsoft Learn portal. Of course, Microsoft will notify the candidate of the certification renewal process over email six months before the certification expires.
