Summary
In this chapter, we saw in great detail the billing aspects of Windows Azure. We outlined what concepts of Windows Azure are billable and how these are billed, ranging from paying per usage to per month.
Then, we saw how we could use the calculator that Microsoft provides on its website to estimate your Azure costs in great detail. We saw what the purchase options are and what specific member offerings Microsoft has.
We drilled down to the hardest to predict costs of Windows Azure—bandwidth and transaction. These sections outlined in great detail what exactly a transaction is, when it is billable, and when bandwidth is charged. Later on, we provided details on how to estimate the capacity we need on our different storage services.
