Logical switching
NSX offers the administrators the ability to spin up logical isolated Layer 2 networks with the same flexibility and functionalities as a virtual machine. Logical switching makes use of three components of NSX while switching and communicating. These three components are:
NSX Manager: As discussed earlier in this chapter, NSX manager is the management plane that is used to configure local switches, and connect multiple virtual machines to the local switches configured with NSX. NSX manager also offers an API interface, which eases out the administrator's task of automating deployment and managing these switches.
Controller cluster: The Controller cluster in NSX is the control plane and its primary role is to manage the switching and routing modules in hypervisors.
