The Spreadsheet Processing Log

Another important component in the transformation process is the log that is created when a spreadsheet arrives to be processed. This log keeps track of which spreadsheets have been submitted for transformation processing. Every spreadsheet that is to be processed is “logged in.”

The reason why the logging in of spreadsheets to be transformed is important is that the log forms an essential part of what is called the lineage of spreadsheet data.

The transformation log contains some basic information, including:

• • The spreadsheet name
• • The source of the spreadsheet
• • The date and time the spreadsheet was submitted
• • By whom the spreadsheet was submitted
