Cleaning up a model using Blender
In this section, we will focus on the clean-up process. We will import the 3D model created by Meshroom into Blender. Then, we will orient the model so it's aligned to our floor grid. Lastly, we will delete any unwanted geometry and fix any visible holes in the model.
Importing the model created by Meshroom
Let's begin by importing the model created by Meshroom:
- Launch a new Blender project.
- Delete all the current objects by pressing A and then pressing X and clicking Delete to confirm.
- Now, let's import the model created by Meshroom. In Blender, click File | Import and select Wavefront (.obj) from the list.
- Browse to the folder where you saved the Meshroom project. You will see a folder called
MeshroomCache
. Inside this folder, you will see multiple subfolders. Browse to theTexturing
folder. Inside this folder, you will see a randomly generated folder that looks something like this:df0c69b046db42c2d5bae036267b79fbffce2af0...
