Although written thousands of years ago, this is a truism that applies to recruitment today. We're doing the same thing we did when we used to advertise in the local paper, invite someone we met at a social function to apply for a role, or hire someone who is a current employee's connection. The difference is that we're using modern platforms to reach potential candidates, and the advantage of these social platforms is that we can reach a niche audience more easily than ever before.
In this chapter, we'll build a staged approach to using social media channels as part of a recruitment strategy. We'll be using social networks to find and connect with potential hires in their own community with the aim to bring them into a community built around your employer brand. We'll also look at how four different organizations use social media platforms for recruitment.
