Motor soldering

We saw some basic components of a two-wheel mobile robot. They are the fundamentals of robotics and almost every robot has some of them. In this section, we will go through all the necessary actions you have to do to assemble all the previous components into a working mobile robot.

In the following image, you can see some helpful tools that can make your soldering easier. Obviously, always prefer a soldering station, but the following should do the job. After all, we only have to solder the motors:

The multimeter is useful for measuring the voltages from the motors and sometimes debug our robot. A not-so-good soldering connection may have the result of lower voltage and thus lower RPM in the motor.

Place the soldering iron on the motor and connect the wires. Keeping the soldering iron over the wires for more than 10 seconds may cause the plastic cover of the motor...
