Summary
This chapter concludes the strict operational fundamentals you have to know as an editor. There is no easy way to teach complex subjects such as masking, selection, and layers… so you just have to go through it and practice.
So far in this journey, we have covered the fundamentals of layers and the basics of masking, and with this chapter coming to a close, you know how to select, revise, and deselect from a variety of tools. You also know the fundamental principles of what the software sees to form a foundation to build from.
In this chapter, we did several selections if you followed along with the downloads, and so I would like to formally turn the page and introduce a chapter after this by taking everything we have learned and talking about workflow and composition – the more artistic side of editing.
In the next chapter, we will look at the role of cropping in composition, as how you crop your image tells the story for your viewer. So we can leave...
