Preparing for certifications
Throughout my IT career, I’ve taken over 100+ exams, from scantronic, bubble-in, computer-based, and of course, hands-on practical. A few questions that I’m often asked are these:
How do you prepare for your IT exams?
How do you study?... Any techniques used?...
Although these questions may be simple, they aren’t easy to explain. It’s a paradigm shift from what we were taught, or probably not taught directly, as children growing up. While we were in school, we were told, “Open your book to page...and read for 20 minutes quietly.” When we got home, our parents would say, “Go to your room and study... your exam is tomorrow...”, and we would go and read our book or notes. But is that studying?
